JailBreak/Unlock Your iPhone(1.1.1) in Windows

•November 2, 2007 • 17 Comments

The easiest steps for unlocking your v1.1.1 iPhone in windows

Unlocking your iPhone needs following things

·         Strong Wi-Fi connection

·         A GSM SIM Card

·         A Windows Computer

·         Enough Patience

Stage 0

If you have tried to unlock or have unlocked your iPhone under firmware V 1.0.2 then it is recommended that you revirginize you iPhone

I personally did not have to do it (my case was a bit different) but i just restored my iPhone through iTunes with V 1.0.2 updated to V 1.1.1 (i also restored directly to V 1.1.1 in my attempt over unlocking my iPhone many ways)

but if you want to find out about revirginizing you can check out my Post about Revirginizing your iPhone

Stage 1

if you have an iPhone which has not been activated proceed from here otherwise go to 3b

1. Enter *#307# press call, now use the back button on the top of your screen to remove *#307# , now enter 0 , press call, press answer, press hold, press decline. And you get to the contact list. If you want to get to the contact you can repeat the same process over and over again

2. Add a dummy contact with whatever name you want. Add a home URL as prefs://1F . save the contact. Tap on the URL and it will ask you to select a Wi-Fi Network. Once you are connected please note down your Wi-Fi address you might need that later (you can do this later is well)

3a. Now add a new URL in the same contact and type in http://jailbreakme.com as web-address. Tap on that URL to go the website in your Safari and from there Scroll Down to click on Install AppSnap.

OR

3b. (If you have access to Safari on your Home Screen i.e. your iPhone is already activated) Open Safari and go to http://jailbreakme.com and from there scroll down to click on Install AppSnap

4. If Safari disappears and you return to the main Home screen, you’re good. Just wait a minute more for your unit to restart (Don’t touch anything until you see the slide to unlock screen). If it doesn’€™t restart, go ahead and restart manually. But If Safari hangs, just quit out (press and hold Home for 4-8 seconds) and try again.

5. Once you get to slide-to-unlock, go ahead and open your iPhone. You’ll return to your home screen which will contain a new Installer.app icon.

* If you want to use SSH and WinCP follow this steps (OLD METHOD) or go to NEW METHOD

*OLD METHOD*

6. Now you will need to install the BSD subsystem, Community Sources, and then install Open SSH (You may need to upgrade Installer.app )

7. Now Download AnySIM V1.1.1. open WinCP and connect to your iPhone using

Username = root & password = dottie OR alpine

8. Copy AnySIM V 1.1.1 to your iPhone’s Application€™s folder and make sure that the folder AnySIM.app and the file AnySIM inside it has rights 0755 (If not right click and select properties and just change it to 0755)

9. Restart your iPhone. Go to Settings and set General→Autolock to Never and run AnySIM V 1.1.1 (Make sure that your desired SIM card is in the iPhone)

10. after the successful run of the AnySIM tool you will have unlocked iPhone. Now sometimes the iPhone might give a message that Waiting for Activation. If that’s the case then Download Lock Down File. Extract it.

11. WinSCP your iPhone. Go to “/usr/libexec”. Replace the existing file (OR for your safety rename the file on iPhone as lockdown.back). Restart your iPhone and you would be FREE

12. Download the 3 files here. Extract it. WinSCP to your iPhone again. Go to “œ/var/root/Library/Lockdown/”. Notice you should not get any œ”activation record”€ folder. Replace the existing file now. Restart the iPhone again. You should now happy to get it work with YouTube.

* NEW METHOD *

6. Got Installer. Tap on Sources. Add Launch Installer on the iPhone

7. Tap Sources, Tap Edit, Tap Add

8. Enter http://iphone.blurgle.ca/repo in the url box and hit go. (not having a trailing slash matters) Installer.app will add the source.

9. Go back to Installer.app, tap “All Packages” and install AnySIM.

10. Run AnySIM and follow the on-screen instructions

11. Remove your SIM card and put it back in.

NOTE:- You might need to perform step 12 of OLD METHOD to activate Youtube.I haven’€™t used the new method so can’€™t confirm it.

Please Write in Your comments about these steps and corrections & suggestions would be very much appreciated.

My New Shift Starts Today…!

•October 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

my job shift has been changed

so now i will be working from 10 to 7 instead of 8:30 to 5:30

lets see how it goes. one thing sure i can sleep nicely because that was the only thing that i was having trouble in my job (getting up early…!). i also have to decide on how do i want to commute to my job. the usual way of driving to station and taking the metro rail that i used to do everyday OR driving all the way to the job everyday cosindering that the traffic would be less around when i leave my home at 8:30 AM

but this also gives me kind of less time in the evening as i would reach my home at about 8:30 PM…!

i am sure excited about it but lets see how it goes…!

iPhone revirginizer released by iPhone Elite team…!

•October 23, 2007 • 7 Comments

iPhone Elite Team has released ”revirginizer” tool which can revirginize unlocked iPhone. what this does is it enables you to do is restore your unlocked iPhones in its orginal locked state, update to firmware 1.1.1 and then again unlock it to whatever GSM carrier you like

this is great news for the estimated 250,000 unlocked iPhone owners who may be still stuck at firmware 1.0.2 as they can finally get 1.1.1

but it’s probably best to wait for few days till good amount of people try it and no big concerns are found before jumping on to doing experiments with you iPhone.

i do not have all the steps here as i think the steps are a little bit hackery. you can get the tool and steps to use it at

http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/RevirginizingTool

Note: the source of this post is taken from tuaw.com (i.e. The unofficial Apple Weblog)

hats off to iPhone Elite Team and keep up the Good Work guys

DVR is so cool…!

•October 23, 2007 • Leave a Comment

may be i joined the DRV users community very late but i surely am getting very fond of it and specially my HD DVR.

i recorded the show The Big Bang Theory on monday in HD and Heroes. i think i am going to watch them right now and yeah Satyam (My Friend) calls me and asks me if i could record his favorite show CSI:miami so i guess my DVR is not only helping meout but also my friends.

i am very interested in finding out how the USB storage option in HD DVR works. as i have few external HDs just used for nothing.

i hope i can come up with some other very interesting sections on my blog other than stuff about my everyday life which would be useful to readers

and as i have always said i would appreciate any suggestions from you about the ideas on what should i blog about…!

this post may not look interesting on first note for the reader but it is the first post from my iphone. And again i must say it is awesome. Now i do not need to be near my laptop to be near internet.
i believe this will help me a lot in my long trip to maryland next weekend…..!

I am loving it…!

No i do not mean McDonald by the title of the post…! i mean that i am loving my iPhone. it is just great. so user friendly and so awesome interface with great touch screen feel.

lately all my posts have been involving iPhone in one or other way and i apologize to whoever is reading my post (if there is somebody really reading them…!). but it is the talk of the town or i should say talk of the world.

if you go to google and type in iPhone unlock in windows you will see link to my blog as the last link on the search results page which is just awesome…! and i am getting so much excited about my blog site now.

but the only thing that is bothering me is that i do not get any comments. i would really appreciate comments about any particular blog or even about the web site itself so i can improve it and also any ideas on the subject of the blogs that i post

thanks to everyone for reading my blogs…!

250,000 unlocked iPhones out there…!

•October 22, 2007 • 1 Comment

iphone-unlock-x250k.jpg

According to a post on Engadget.com on today’s Apple Q4 earnings call Apple COO Tim Cook stated that “Apple estimates 250,000 iPhones were sold with intention to unlock,” and that “many of those sales happened after the price cut”. It is a very significant number in regards to the total 1.4 million iPhones sold overall. This shows the popularity of iPhone and how badly people want it.

I feel that iPhone is most selling cell phone ever within the time frame that it was introduced and now…! and the users (or i should say lovers) keep growing specially after the price cut.

enjoying my iPhone…!

•October 21, 2007 • 1 Comment

wow i am impressed…! no matter what people say but iPhone is awesome

i was one of the guys who used to blame iPhone and say that i will never buy the first generation iPhone but i guess i was wrong. i think the trip to atlanta changed it all. when i used iPhone for internet. i love internet on iphone…! and probably thats all that i care about the most and yeah i am sorry iPod but it looks like that i might not be using you in a while is well

okay i am watching Sunday night football and i would say good bye right now…!

iPhone Unlock Steps For Windows…!

•October 20, 2007 • 4 Comments

The following steps are to unlock a  “Virgin” iPhone which has not had any attempts of unlocking on it before regardless of the version

1. download appTap (third party app installer) from http://iphone.nullriver.com

2. download PACAY from http://www.simonrichardson.co.uk/

3. Install appTap and PACAY respectively (see some description on their respective sites to what you should expect during & after the install process). this will activate your iPhone…!

3. jailbreak using iBrickr v0.91(this might not be the latest version, just download the latest version) by natetrue (get the software here : http://cre.ations.net/creation/ibrickr)

4. Follow the instruction and a video sample on the website and run iBrickr v0.91 accordingly (ibrickr will automatically downgrade the firmware version of the iPhone to 1.0.2  if it detected that you have 1.1.1)

5. Browse for applications in iBrickr and select anySim v1.1

7. after the iPhone soft restarts itself run anySim v1.1 (Make sure the autolock is set to never and the passcode is off, the tool will tell you to do so even if you forgot to do it)

8. And there you have it your own iPhone on your own GSM carrier

Please let me know how it goes or you need any help???

for those who tried to or did unlock there iPhone earlier can not use this and they would have to wait till some application which makes your iPhone virgin and from there on you can follow these steps

NOTE : all the above steps are collected as result of different forums and blogs of other individuals and all the credit goes to them (and not me) & creators of all the tools that are used in the unlocking process

it took me 2-3 hours to unlock my phone because i did not know any thing about unlocking and i had to go through many sites to find a set of easy steps to unlock my iPhone from windows so the sole reason of my post here is to help everybody out there who still do not have any idea about unlocking the iPhone

Crossing My Fingers for iPhone…!

•October 18, 2007 • Leave a Comment

hummm…tomorrow will be the most awaited day for me in a long time…why? i will find out tomorrow if i will i have a iPhone or not??

here is the thing, one of my family friend had an iPhone but stopped using it after some time and the phone was in his house just doing nothing…! after the free unlock for new firmware and the move to third party apps i wanted to have an iPhone but just wasn’t sure of buying a new one so i called my friend to ask if i could have his iPhone only to find out that some other teen that he knew came to his house and took the phone from him. i was kind of disappointed to find that out.

but few minutes before my brother called me to let me know that the other teen might return the iPhone to my friend tomorrow and if he does, i can have it…! so by the end of tomorrow (or the weekend) i might have a 8 GB iPhone in my hand……wow just a thought of me having an iPhone (specially for free) is just amazing…so Do not forget o check out my blog tomorrow to find out “What Happens Next….!”

Pakistan Bomb Blast

•October 18, 2007 • Leave a Comment

when i set in front of my laptop and open my internet explorer to surf internet and go to each of my bookmarked websites that i go to every day, i had no idea that the first website which i will open,CNN.com, will show a horrific news that there has been an ugly explosion in Pakistan

Photo from CNN and BBC

atleast 110  people are dead and baout 300 injured (these numbers are supposed to increase as more news comes in..!)

the explosion occured at the home coming parade of Benazir Bhutto, a formar pakistan president who was serving exile from pakistan for about last 8 years & the only (or first) female leader in Islamic Community, just beside the Bus that she was travelling in. it is assumed that it was a possible suicide attack

the first thing that came to my mind was who could have been possible for chaos?? whenever something happens anywhere in the world like this, people start to blame the islamic community but who could be blamed on the attack on the soil of a country run by islamic community???

whoever is possible for this terrible blast has left many people crying over their loved ones who passed away in this incident. and we all can pray for their peace to God no matter which God do you believe in, humanity should be greater than any personal religious belief

Apple to allow third party apps on iPhone

•October 17, 2007 • Leave a Comment

after the news of free unlock app yesterday this is anotherbig news

looks like apple is attracting me towards buying an iPhone…hummm lets see what happens in the christmas

Apple iPhone

•October 16, 2007 • 1 Comment

i just saw post on Engadget.com that iPhone Dev team released a Free iPhone unlocking app which enables iPhone to be used on ny network…….this is so cool but it is just making me more confused and also happy at the same time

happy that i would now be more glad to get iPhone as my Christmas gift if this free unlock app works fine and i can use it with my T-mobile as i would not hve to pay 200 early termination fee to T-mobile by moving to At & t

i am confused that should i use the iPhone in T-mobile and bear the bugs/problems of using iPhone on non-At & t carrier or i should pay 200 $ and move to At & t to have the perfect experience

i am still not sure that this unlock app would also enable the iPhone to run third party apps or not???

neways it still is a big announcement and i am really excited about how the Tech world reacts to this specially Cnet.com which is aparantly down right now
